Kane Partners Annual CYO Basketball Tournament

A little fun fact about our President and CEO Gary Kane is that he is also be the Founder and Co-chair of the St. Helena’s CYO Memorial Invitational Basketball Tournament which he volunteers at every year.  In 2015 Gary was the coach of the victorious Varsity Boys team with the assistance of 2nd grader Landon Vargas, the team’s honorary team captain, who later that year lost his battle to cancer.  That semifinal game was extra special for the Kanes as it was Gary’s son Kyle who landed the buzzer beater to get St Helena the win!  You couldn’t have written a better ending to the tournament for the players, coaches, and honorary team captain Landon.

Kane Partners has been with the tournament since the very beginning, this year will be our 13th year in a row as a sponsor and we can’t believe how the time has flown by!  Gary isn’t the only Kane Partners staffer to get in on the action, Kristin Kane Ford, our Director of Social Media for Kane Partners Social Media division organizes the Live Stream of the game, which you can watch all weekend on our website!  kanepartners.net/shs

Many of you may know that this upcoming Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK day for short), an American federal holiday which celebrates the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.  What you may not know is that in 1994 President Bill Clinton signed into law the King Holiday and Service Act which challenges citizens to make the holiday a day celebrating public service.  That is precisely why each year during the weekend before Martin Luther King Jr Day, the CYO Basketball Tournament takes place, to have a chance to serve those in the community.

The tournament is about basketball, teamwork, community, and fun!   And it is a great cause that raises money to help those in need throughout the community.

Stay tuned this weekend for the LIVE feed and enjoy some great basketball and the chance to bid on some amazing silent auction items.

Do you participate in any volunteer activities on MLK Day?  We would love to hear about it if you do!
