Interviewing

For some, interviewing can be a tough and very anxious endeavor. While for others, interviewing is as simple as it gets, as it’s a chance to provide a prospective employer with all their skills and experience. Whichever category you find yourself falling into, Kane Solutions is here to help ensure you put your best foot forward during your interviews.

Interview Preparation to Salary Negotiation

There are many different facets and steps to the interview process:

  • What type of interviewee are you? Understand yourself and the type of interviewee you are, playing to those strengths during the interview. Be sure your intangibles shine through in addition to the actual skills, experience, and traits that you bring.
  • Preparation: Your personal preparation, or lack thereof, can make or break the interview. Run through possible questions you may be asked and prepare for your answers. It goes without saying, but know your own experience and skills. Nothing looks worse in an interview than a question about the candidates experience on their resume and a blank response in return. Be sure you have researched the company that you are interviewing with and have solid, well thought-out questions.
  • Follow Up: Even in today’s fast pace, go-go world, a follow up thank you to the interviewer is a professional and courteous move that should be followed. It displays a strong level of professionalism on your part.
  • Negotiating Salary: If you are fortunate enough to receive an offer, salary negotiation is an important skill to have in your toolbox.  Not every employer leaves the window open for salary negotiation, but it may be worth your while to dabble here a bit. Even if the salary is non-negotiable, there may be room to negotiate benefits, vacation, or stock options.

Confidence and Competence

Interviewing starts at the preparation. Without preparation, you’ll probably never make it to the negotiation. Know your strengths and weaknesses and play to them in the interview. Follow-up is a key to your success. It’s usually the small details that separate the offer from the rejection.
