Software Engineer – Machine Interface & Test Systems
Location: Allentown, PA – Hybrid
Salary: $135,000 – $155,000
Are you a hands-on .NET developer who loves building real-world software that interacts with hardware? Join a team that creates the machines that test next-gen smart home products—everything from lighting controls to sensors to motorized shades.
We’re hiring a Software Engineer to develop high-performance C#/.NET applications embedded in our custom test equipment. This isn’t banking or insurance software—this is hands-on engineering. You’ll write the code that powers the interface, data collection, and logic behind advanced machines that inspect and validate Lutron’s award-winning products before they ship.
What You’ll Build
· Software that lives inside real machines—running on industrial PCs
· Interfaces used by on-floor operators (touchscreens, dashboards, controls)
· Systems that integrate with sensors, boards, power supplies, and diagnostics
· Scalable tools for manufacturing optimization, data analysis, and reporting
What You’ll Do
· Design and develop test and automation software in C#/.NET
· Write apps that control physical test equipment and process product data
· Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and test engineering teams
· Help define architecture, write testable code, and validate production systems
· Occasionally travel (up to 5%) to see your code in action at global manufacturing sites
What We’re Looking For
· 5+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally close to hardware
· Deep skills in C#/.NET and application development for desktop/embedded systems
· Experience in instrumentation, test rigs, or control panels a strong plus
· Someone who’s worked in a product or manufacturing company—not just SaaS or finance
· Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar
· GPA 3.0 or higher required
Bonus Points
· Experience with signal generators, meters, PLCs, or I/O boards
· Familiar with Agile or SAFe development frameworks
· Used tools like Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence
Why This Role Matters
· The team is collaborative, sharp, and invested in mentoring and long-term growth
· This is a rare opportunity to write elegant software that drives real hardware—at scale
Additional Info
· This is a full-time, W2 role (no C2C or third parties)
· U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders only
· No visa sponsorship now or in the future
