Safety Coordinator

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Key Responsibilities:

· Ensure compliance with all plant safety and environmental programs, including regular updates to safety plans (e.g., Hazard Communication, Lockout-Tagout, PPE, Emergency Response Plans, Bloodborne Pathogens, Confined Space, and Hazard Assessments).

· Facilitate Safety Committee meetings by coordinating agendas, maintaining attendance records, and documenting meeting minutes. Conduct compliance audits and generate work orders for any findings.

· Manage accurate and timely completion of safety and environmental inspections, recordkeeping, and reporting.

· Coordinate and conduct safety training, including new hire orientation, weekly huddle meetings, and annual training for all plant employees.

· Lead and perform employee incident investigations and root cause analyses.

· Ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of safety-related documents, including training records and environmental reports.

· Maintain effective communication between the Safety Department and Human Resources.

· Work closely with plant management to reduce risks through Ergonomic evaluations and Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and recommend corrective actions.

· Perform safety audits for both the plant and distribution center.

· Follow up with the Maintenance Department to ensure timely completion of all safety work orders.

· Maintain labor law postings, assist with drug screening, and ensure compliance with regular inspections (e.g., fire equipment, AED units, hoists, ladders, eyewash stations).

· Assist with plant inspections and work alongside the maintenance team.

· Knowledge of Industrial Lift Truck operation is desirable (certification preferred but not required).

Qualifications:

· 1-3 years of safety-related work experience required.

· Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, especially in companies with 500+ employees.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (General Industry) is essential.

· Experience with Risk Management Procedures (RMP) and Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.

· Certification in 1st Aid/CPR/AED required.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

· A Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred but not required with relevant experience.

· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

· Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) are a plus.

· Must be comfortable working in wet and cold environments (28 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit).

Working Conditions:

· This position requires moderate physical activity, including standing or walking for extended periods and handling average-weight objects.

· Frequent exposure to wet and cold environments, as low as 28 degrees Fahrenheit.
