Process Control Engineer

Location: Kokomo, IN

Salary: $90,000 – $130,000

This is a full-time, onsite opportunity with relocation assistance available.

About the Role:

As the site’s lead Process Control Engineer, you’ll oversee the maintenance, optimization, and evolution of the plant’s process control systems. From managing DCS and PLCs to integrating scanner and vision systems, you’ll serve as the subject matter expert on all automation and control initiatives—while mentoring technicians and supporting strategic improvements.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and support a safe work environment through sound safety practices and awareness

• Manage and administer plant-wide process control systems including DCS, PLCs, drives, and HMI software

• Troubleshoot and perform emergency maintenance on hardware/software as needed

• Provide technical training to E&I technicians on PLCs, drives, and network troubleshooting

• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and vendor collaboration

• Design, program, and document software modifications and system changes

• Maintain accurate records of system changes and a database of parts/inventory

• Ensure operators are trained and systems are reliable, backed up, and optimized

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other sites for standardization and efficiency

• Stay current on new technologies and recommend upgrades when appropriate

What You’ll Bring:

• 7+ years of relevant experience; pulp and paper a plus, but not required

• BS degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience

• Strong knowledge of PLCs, industrial networking, and drive systems

• Familiarity with NFPA, OSHA, and NEMA electrical safety standards

• Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and drive projects to completion

• Strong communication and leadership skills
