Director of Finance
Location: Greensboro, NC
Salary: $170,000 – $190,000
A U.S.-based manufacturing leader is seeking a Director of Finance to shape financial strategy, drive profitability, and optimize performance across five folding carton production facilities. This is not a transactional accounting role—there’s no AP, AR, GL, or traditional FP&A grind. Instead, this high-impact position focuses on integrating operational data with strategic decision-making to guide commercial, pricing, and margin initiatives that fuel growth.
Reporting Structure: You will report directly to a senior finance executive, leading five site controllers and a division financial analyst while partnering closely with operations and commercial teams.
Key Areas of Impact
• Develop pricing strategies to maximize market competitiveness and profitability
• Analyze volume trends, cost of goods sold (COGS), and product-level profitability
• Deliver gross margin and variance analysis to drive operational and commercial decisions
• Build and refine standard cost models to inform pricing and production strategy
• Track yield and waste to uncover efficiency opportunities
• Provide customer and SKU-level margin insights for targeted growth
• Maintain plant-level P&L accountability without being embedded in plant accounting
• Monitor throughput and operational efficiency metrics
• Lead forecasting, budgeting, and financial risk assessment aligned with business goals
• Align capital spending with growth and operational improvement objectives
• Optimize working capital and assess strategic sourcing impacts
• Analyze labor and overhead variances to improve cost control
• Enhance contribution margins through market-driven cost modeling
Ideal Candidate:
• Proven leadership across multiple manufacturing facilities (five or more preferred)
• Expertise in commercial and operational finance—pricing, margin, cost modeling—over transactional accounting
• Strong record of improving profitability and efficiency using data-driven insights
• Skilled at influencing across operations, sales, and corporate leadership in a matrixed environment
• Ability to translate complex financial drivers into actionable recommendations for non-financial stakeholders
Travel & Logistics:
Based in Greensboro, NC, with travel to other facilities (25–35%).
